Anti Aging Creams

Who wants to look older?

Quick show of hands, please…..Nobody?  Hmmmm…..

Getting older is something most people don’t want to think about.  Our bones deteriorate, our muscles become weak, and our skin goes through changes for the worse.  Anti Aging treatments have evolved in recent years as people have found advancements in creams, injections, and cosmetics surgeries.  Depending on the amount of money you wish to spend, you can effectively reverse the signs of aging through a variety of invasive and non-invasive procedures.

We choose to look mostly at anti aging creams because they are the most popular of the three above groups, and because they are available for purchase almost anywhere, (and most of the time much more affordable) they seem to be what everyone wants to read about.  There are many different anti aging creams out there, and depending on where you get your information, you may or may not know what is the best anti aging cream for you.

For starters, let’s start with the most popular anti aging cream:  the eye cream.

Eye creams are the most popular cream because there are so many things that happen to the area of skin around our eyes as we age.  For starters, we start to develop eye wrinkles.  These occur due to several factors, but mainly they are caused by habitual expressions such as squinting.  Also referred to as “crows feet,” for the resemblance they have to that of a crow’s pronged foot, these are irreversible wrinkles that stem from the corners of our eyes and can extend as far as the temple.

Another reason people use eye creams is because the area of skin  under the eyes loses it’s elasticity very rapidly.  If you touch the skin under your eyes, you may notice that it’s not as thick as the skin on your cheeks.  This is because this skin gradually thins over time as collagen depletes.  It needs to obtain nutrients (such as hyaluronic acid) to become plump and firm once again.

Of course, there are always those nasty dark circles that are visible under our eyes.  Dark under eye circles can be caused by lack of sleep, an imbalanced diet, and high levels of stress, to name a few.  Lack of hydration (which usually is due to being intoxicated frequently) is a major reasons why people suffer from dark circles, especially in the 20-30 age range.  Whatever the cause is, most eye creams contain ingredients like Haloxyl that work to reduce their appearance.

Rounding out the reasons eye creams are so popular include “puffiness,” and “eye bags.”  Both of these bothersome signs of aging can be treated by constant use of an eye cream.  Of course, the eyes are indeed the windows to our souls and remain the focal point of the human body, so treating this area of skin is a high priority for most people.

Other terms you may hear in the skin industry that can mean eye cream include “Eye Serum” and “Eye Gel.” Both terms are used on occasion, most of the time due to the viscosity of the liquid, but at other times these are used as a differentiation in marketing efforts.  Always read the intended purposes before using any eye care product, and make sure the goals of the said product line up with your expectations and intended use.

Eye Bags

Eye bags are a common reason people buy eye creams.

Another popular anti aging cream used by many people today is the anti wrinkle cream.

Anti wrinkle creams are often misunderstood by consumers, and it’s important you know exactly what you are buying if you are a user of anti wrinkle creams.  Many companies trying to make a quick buck will promise “miracle” results when pitching their anti wrinkle creams.  The truth is, no cream can get rid of a wrinkle, its just not possible.  However, the best anti wrinkle creams can do a great job at concealing wrinkles with constant use.  Think of  a wrinkle like a fold in a sheet of paper. If you fold a sheet of paper in half, and then unfold it, the crease will remain.   No matter what you do to the paper, no matter how many times you try to reverse the fold, it will always be there.  Sure, you can do things to the paper to conceal the fold, but like a wrinkle, it’s always going to be there.

Be careful when you buy anti wrinkle creams, especially when the promise of a “miracle” is made.  Look for ingredients with proven track records, like Matrixyl 3000, a copper peptide that has been praised by many for it’s amazing clinical studies.  While there are many ingredients out there that work well in formulas (Argireline, otherwise known as Acetyl Hexapeptide 3, is one) to hide wrinkles in just a matter of weeks, you must also know that anti wrinkle creams need to be used as directed.  If a product directs you to use the cream twice per day, use it twice per day.  Expectations can be a little high for anti wrinkle creams, but when used properly, they are a great anti aging treatment that can not only conceal wrinkles, but also moisturize the skin as well.

As consumers are always looking to treat the most bizarre skin conditions, skin care manufacturers are answering with many specialized anti aging creams.  Other creams with goals of making their users look younger include neck creams, (which work to firm the neck and treat neck wrinkles), hand creams, (which remove age spots among other things), and skin lightening creams.  Also known as “skin brightening creams,” these products are designed to get rid of freckles, sun spots, and other pigmentation issues.

As the anti aging cream industry grows, we certainly expect many more creams to come to market to help people look younger.
